Current Students

A student who has been accepted into the program will:

  1. Attend all Co-op workshops which focus on the development of pre-employment skills;
  2. Pay the pre-employment workshop fee;
  3. Initiate an independent search for an appropriate work term position using both personal contacts and the resources of the Co-op Office, and ensure that all offers of employment are directed through the Co-op Office;
  4. Prepare for interviews, which includes researching both the company and the job posted;
  5. Accept work term positions regardless of location;
  6. Honour the acceptance of a work term position by reporting to work at the commencement of the work term and fulfill the terms of employment;
  7. Respect the policies, procedures, confidentiality and proprietary information of Employers (assume that job information is confidential unless told otherwise);
  8. Adhere to all conditions and rules that apply to employees in the organization. These may include: pay, allowances and benefits, normal working hours, union membership, physical examination requirements, income tax reporting, suitable dress, etc.;
  9. Keep the Co-op Coordinator informed of any changes in address, contact, and work term information throughout the duration of the Co-op Program. Student Address and Work Term Information forms must be received by the Co-op Office within the first week of employment;
  10. Advise the Co-op Coordinator immediately of any concerns or problems with the work term assignment or working environment;
  11. Write a work term report for each work term and submits it to their Supervisor. If the report is not confidential, submit it to the Co-op Office with a signed release form. The Co-op Office will then send it to the Student’s Faculty Liaison (when appropriate) for marking. Reports will not be accepted without a release form signed by the Student’s Supervisor. If the report is confidential, submit the signed release form to the Co-op Office indicating that it is confidential. The Student’s Supervisor will be responsible for evaluating the report. Emailed reports will not be accepted;
  12. Complete and submit the Student Evaluation of Co-operative Education Work Term form for each work term; and
  13. Continue an independent job search for upcoming work terms and complete academic requirements.
